About Me
I love analyzing and synthesizing information, making it accessible to readers. I believe a thoughtfully crafted index not only benefits the author by allowing their work to be disseminated and appreciated, but that good indexing promotes information access, and more broadly, information literacy.
I obtained my indexing training through the University of California Berkeley, and completed the Mary Newberry Mentorship Program for Indexers with the Indexing Society of Canada. I also hold a BA in Psychology from Dalhousie University, a BFA with a major in Fine Art from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design University, and a diploma in Library and Information Technology from Nova Scotia Community College.
My industry background includes several years of working in independent bookstores, dental laboratory technology, and records management. This allows me to apply a rich and balanced skillset to my indexing projects, such as meticulous attention to detail and exceptional time management. Each text is given my undivided attention, and I am committed to providing an enjoyable, consistent, and reliable client service experience.
The many hobbies and interests I’ve cultivated over the years also inform my indexing. When I’m not indexing, I’m usually making stained glass art, reading, or hiking one of Nova Scotia’s lovely nature trails.
I am active within the indexing community, as a member and volunteer with the Indexing Society of Canada.
